Low-salt warning after adding salt
If the salt level tests fine but the system still says low, the cell may be scaled or the sensor may be reading wrong.

01 / The symptoms
Most of these show up as a warning light or a pool that's slowly losing its chlorine.
If the salt level tests fine but the system still says low, the cell may be scaled or the sensor may be reading wrong.
The system runs but chlorine won't hold. Common causes are a scaled or worn cell, low run time or a control problem.
Flow errors can come from the flow switch, low pump speed or a dirty filter, not just the cell.
Calcium builds up on the plates over time and cuts chlorine output.
Lost Wi-Fi connection, an expired login or a controller that needs an update.
The pump, heater or other equipment doesn't follow the controller's schedule.
02 / The work
We look at the salt system or controller together with the pump and filter, since flow problems often show up as salt or automation errors.
Clean and inspect salt cells
Test salinity and calibrate readings
Diagnose flow switches, sensors and control boards
Replace salt cells at the end of their life
Program pool automation schedules for pump, heater and lights
Set up and restore remote and app access
Install new pool automation systems
We work on major pool equipment brands, such as Jandy, Pentair, Rheem and Gulfstream.
03 / Good question
The usual causes are scale on the cell plates, a salt reading that's off, a flow problem, a cell at the end of its life or a control board fault. Many salt systems also cut output when the water is cool, so chlorine can drop on cooler days.
Our post on salt cell and salt system problems in Miami explains each one.
04 / Good question
Inspect the cell regularly and clean it when you see white scale building up on the plates. Cleaning it more often than it needs can shorten its life, so check first. Your owner's manual will list the recommended method.
If you'd rather not handle it, we clean and inspect salt cells as part of pool equipment repair and maintenance.
05 / Good question
For many Miami pools, yes. Automation lets you run the pump, heater and lights on a schedule and control them from your phone. That's useful if you travel or own a second home, and it makes it easy to run the pump at efficient speeds for the right number of hours.
It's worth less if your setup is a single pump on a simple timer and you're happy with that. We'll tell you honestly which camp you're in.
06 / Good question
Yes, we install new pool automation systems as well as repairing and programming existing ones. The cost depends on how much equipment you want to control and whether wiring or plumbing changes are needed. We quote after seeing your equipment pad, and your estimate is free and in writing.
07 / Good question
Saltwater pools make their own chlorine, so many owners find the water feels softer and need fewer chlorine deliveries. They do need cell cleaning and eventually a new cell. Read saltwater vs. chlorine pools in Florida and our saltwater pool maintenance guide.
Where we work
We repair pool equipment across Miami-Dade from three offices: Miami Beach (350 Lincoln Rd), Miami (1555 NW 28th St) and Coconut Grove (3390 Mary St #116). We also serve Hollywood Beach and Hallandale Beach to the north.
How to book
Four steps from first call to working equipment.
Call (888) 401-7133 or request a free estimate online with your name, phone, the service you need and your address or ZIP. A photo of your equipment pad or any error code on the display helps us come prepared. We take calls and quote requests 7AM–7PM daily.
A technician comes out, checks the equipment and finds the cause, not just the symptom. We'll schedule a visit as soon as possible, depending on your needs.
Simple fixes are quoted on the spot and can often be done the same visit. Bigger repairs and replacements come with a free written estimate that compares the cost of fixing what you have with replacing it, so you can decide before we start.
Once you approve, we make the repair, run the system and check that everything is working together: pump, filter, heater and controls.
The finer details / FAQ
Common questions from Miami pool owners
The cell may be scaled, the sensor may be reading wrong, or the salt may not have fully dissolved yet. Test the water first; if the level is right, the cell or sensor needs checking.
Clean it when you see white scale on the plates. Cleaning more often than needed can shorten the cell's life.
If output stays low after a cleaning, salinity is correct and flow is good, the cell may be at the end of its life. We test before recommending a new one.
For many Miami pools, yes: it schedules the pump, heater and lights and lets you control them from your phone. It's worth less for a single pump on a simple timer.
Usually. It's often a Wi-Fi, login or update problem rather than failed hardware. We diagnose it on site.
